Former Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Gunda Lakshmi Devi and her supporters are expected to join the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Thursday, October 22, 2026. She is likely to be the YSRCP's mayoral candidate for the Srikakulam Municipal Corporation. The elections for the corporation are scheduled in approximately two months. Lakshmi Devi previously served as an MLA, defeating former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao in 2014, but losing to him in 2019. The TDP did not offer her a ticket in the 2024 general elections.
