The ongoing war in West Asia could necessitate a revision of the original plans for the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC). Special Envoy Gérard Mestrallet stated that multiple routes are needed to ensure trade resilience between the connected continents, allowing for contingencies. He acknowledged that while Hormuz Strait may not be blocked permanently, the associated risks will increase costs for shippers. Oman is being considered as a potentially safer gateway port due to its relative stability amidst military actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
