Indian Researcher Tracks Pollutants From Kannur To Arctic

Manoj P. Rayaroth, an Assistant Professor at GITAM School of Science, recently participated in the Indian Arctic Expedition 2026-27. He collected water samples from glaciers and fjords in Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard, to study how pollutants travel to the remote Arctic. Rayaroth explained that isolated polar regions are crucial for climate research because substances released elsewhere can eventually reach them due to interconnected oceans. His research aims to understand the transformation of organic pollutants in Arctic ice and meltwater.
