Thiruvananthapuram Corporation is launching a drive to remove unused and dangerously dangling overhead cables across the city, starting with five wards. The initiative aims to address the safety risks posed by unorganised telephone and internet cables. Cables that are not tagged for identification will be removed, while others will be bundled and secured. This project, which will eventually cover all 101 wards, aims to improve public safety and create a more orderly streetscape. Similar initiatives have been successfully implemented in Varanasi and Mumbai.
