Chandigarh Launches Wildlife Week with Sukhna Lake Walkathon and Habitat Conservation Focus

Chandigarh celebrated the commencement of Wildlife Week 2026 with a walkathon themed 'Connecting Habitats, Thriving Wildlife,' emphasizing habitat protection and community involvement in conservation. The event saw participation from NSS volunteers, students, NGOs, and UT administration officials, stretching from Sukhna Lake to the Chandigarh Bird Park. Chief Secretary H Rajesh Prasad inaugurated the event, releasing the UT Wildlife Survey Report and launching the 'Pahal' magazine. The week-long drive includes various activities like bird-watching and painting contests to promote environmental awareness.

चंडीगढ़ ने वन्यजीव सप्ताह 2026 का शुभारंभ 'आवासों को जोड़ना, वन्यजीवों को पनपाना' थीम वाले वॉकथॉन के साथ किया, जिसमें आवास संरक्षण और संरक्षण में सामुदायिक भागीदारी पर जोर दिया गया। इस कार्यक्रम में NSS स्वयंसेवकों, छात्रों, गैर-सरकारी संगठनों और UT प्रशासन के अधिकारियों ने भाग लिया, जो सुखना झील से चंडीगढ़ बर्ड पार्क तक फैला हुआ था। मुख्य सचिव H Rajesh Prasad ने कार्यक्रम का उद्घाटन किया, UT वन्यजीव सर्वेक्षण रिपोर्ट जारी की और 'पहल' पत्रिका का शुभारंभ किया। सप्ताह भर चलने वाले इस अभियान में पर्यावरण जागरूकता को बढ़ावा देने के लिए पक्षी-दर्शन और पेंटिंग प्रतियोगिताओं जैसी विभिन्न गतिविधियाँ शामिल हैं।
