Kolkata Police have advanced their major Durga Puja traffic deployment to Dwitiya due to severe congestion on major thoroughfares. Additional division forces, local police, NCC cadets, and civil defence personnel will manage traffic and crowds. The period between Mahalaya and Sasthi is expected to be particularly challenging with offices, schools, and shoppers active, alongside pandal barricading. Traffic plans will be dynamic, with officers potentially switching from automated to manual signals as needed. Unlike previous years, a round-the-clock watch will be maintained from Mahalaya to Panchami.
