Bombay HC Refuses to Order Centre to Lower NEET-UG 2026 Cut-off Marks
Times of India · education
The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has refused to direct the Centre to lower the minimum qualifying marks for NEET-UG 2026. The court stated that the power to relax the threshold is discretionary and can only be exercised when specific conditions are met. Petitioners had argued that increased absenteeism in the re-examination unfairly raised the percentile. However, the court noted that relaxation is permitted only if a sufficient number of candidates fail to secure the minimum marks, a condition not met here.
