Farmers will gherao Union minister Pralhad Joshi's residence in Hubballi, demanding sugarcane procurement price be fixed at Rs 5,500 per tonne. Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha and Hasiru Sene president Chunappa Pujeri announced the protest, citing a sharp rise in cultivation costs and stagnant minimum support price since 2019. Farmers also demand an increase in the MSP to Rs 60 and permission to sell 100% of ethanol produced by sugar factories.
