Supreme Court Seeks More Women In Bar Councils

The Supreme Court has stated that Bar Councils have become 'men's clubs' and called for greater representation of women. The court directed that two women members co-opted into these councils must be nominated from either former women High Court judges or senior women members of the Bar. This move aims to address the gender imbalance and ensure diverse perspectives within legal professional bodies.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा है कि बार काउंसिल 'पुरुषों के क्लब' बन गए हैं और महिलाओं की भागीदारी बढ़ाने की ज़रूरत है। कोर्ट ने निर्देश दिया है कि इन काउंसिल में दो महिला सदस्यों को पूर्व महिला हाई कोर्ट जजों या बार की वरिष्ठ महिला सदस्यों में से चुना जाए। इसका मकसद लैंगिक असंतुलन को दूर करना और कानूनी संस्थाओं में विविधता लाना है।
