India Allows E100 Fuel For Compliant Vehicles, Clarifies Rules

The Hindu - Business · business

India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has amended Central Motor Vehicles Rules to permit the use of up to 100% ethanol (E100) in compliant vehicles. This move supports flex-fuel vehicles capable of running on petrol, ethanol blends, or pure ethanol. The amendments modify emission standards and testing rules, specifically including E100 and E85 in relevant tables. However, the ministry clarified that existing vehicles, even those compatible with E20, are not automatically suitable for E85 or E100. Owners must check their vehicle's fuel compatibility sticker and follow manufacturer guidance.
