Farmers in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, including Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts, are facing severe distress. Initially impacted by a drought due to El Niño conditions, their standing crops were subsequently inundated by floods from a recent deep depression. Thousands of acres of farmland were submerged, leading to significant financial losses for farmers who had already invested heavily in seeds and fertilizers. Many farmers lost between ₹35,000 to ₹2 lakh per acre due to crop damage.
