Amazon Prime Video Ad Policy Leads To Consumer Court Ruling
Times of India · business
A district consumer commission in Telangana has ruled against Amazon for deficiency in service and unfair trade practices. The commission found that Amazon Prime Video introduced advertisements during a customer's paid annual membership and then demanded an additional Rs 699 for ad-free viewing. The platform was ordered to refund the full Rs 1,499 subscription amount, pay Rs 5,000 in compensation, and Rs 3,000 for litigation costs. This decision addresses the consumer's complaint about a service feature being altered mid-subscription without consent.
Amazon Prime Video
