The councillor, Ajin, representing Thrikkannapuram ward, reportedly sought the money to resolve purported issues hindering the sale and development of a 19-cent property. He allegedly threatened to use party workers to obstruct construction if the payment was not made. Ajin has denied the allegations, calling the video a ploy to frame him and suspecting BJP involvement. The landowner has reportedly filed complaints with corporation authorities, police, and the home department.
