Bengaluru Residents Sue Over Flyover Project's Tree Count Discrepancy
Scroll · environment
Residents in Bengaluru have filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court, fearing that a proposed flyover project has significantly undercounted the number of trees to be cut. An independent survey by the 'I Change Indiranagar' group counted 1,001 trees along a 3.5-km stretch, vastly exceeding the project report's estimate of 89 trees to be felled and 235 within the construction width for the entire 13-km alignment. This discrepancy has led to a halt in one stretch of the project as the court reviews the case.
