Britannia Fined Rs 1 Lakh For Misleading '100% Whole Wheat' Bread Claim
Times of India · business
CCPA has fined Britannia Industries Rs 1 lakh for falsely marketing its bread as "100% Whole Wheat Bread." Investigations revealed that whole wheat flour (atta) constituted only 62% of the product, falling short of food labelling regulations which require at least 75% whole wheat for such a claim. The CCPA has ordered Britannia to withdraw the misleading advertisement across all media platforms within 15 days and submit a compliance report. This action aims to protect consumers from deceptive marketing practices in the food industry.
