असम के मुख्यमंत्री हिमंत बिस्वा सरमा ने राज्य भर के 10 लाख से ज़्यादा चाय बागान मज़दूरों के लिए एक ख़ास 20% बोनस का ऐलान किया है। यह बोनस मज़दूरों को आने वाले दुर्गा पूजा के त्यौहार को मनाने में मदद करने के लिए है। यह त्यौहार शुरू होने से पहले 800 से ज़्यादा चाय बागानों में इसका वितरण किया जाएगा। इस पहल का मकसद एक बड़े सांस्कृतिक उत्सव के दौरान राज्य के एक बड़े हिस्से के मज़दूरों को आर्थिक सहायता देना है।
