Former Bangladesh Air Force Chief Arrested in Qatar Over Graft Charges

Former Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Marshal (retd) Sheikh Abdul Hannan has been arrested in Qatar following corruption allegations in his home country. An official stated that Interpol informed ACC of his detention on October 15. Hannan is accused of accumulating over Tk 3.28 crore beyond his known income and conducting suspicious transactions totalling Tk 27.63 crore. His wife is also implicated for allegedly acquiring assets worth over Tk 1.91 crore with his assistance. Investigators have traced alleged offshore wealth to Canada and Dubai.

बांग्लादेश वायु सेना के पूर्व प्रमुख एयर मार्शल (सेवानिवृत्त) शेख अब्दुल हन्नान को उनके देश में भ्रष्टाचार के आरोपों के बाद कतर में गिरफ्तार किया गया है। एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि इंटरपोल ने 15 अक्टूबर को एसीसी को उनकी हिरासत की सूचना दी। हन्नान पर उनकी ज्ञात आय से अधिक 3.28 करोड़ टका जमा करने और 27.63 करोड़ टका के संदिग्ध लेनदेन करने का आरोप है। उनकी पत्नी पर भी उनकी मदद से 1.91 करोड़ टका से अधिक की संपत्ति हासिल करने का आरोप है। जांचकर्ताओं ने कनाडा और दुबई में कथित विदेशी संपत्ति का पता लगाया है।
