Ex-AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain Gets 2 Years Jail For Delhi Riots

A Delhi court has sentenced former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain to two years in prison in connection with the February 2020 North East Delhi riots. Hussain was found guilty of allowing his house to be used by rioters to facilitate attacks. The court noted that as an elected representative, he was expected to maintain peace. This is his second conviction related to the riots; he is already serving a life sentence for the murder of IB officer Ankit Sharma.

दिल्ली की एक अदालत ने फरवरी 2020 के उत्तर पूर्वी दिल्ली दंगों के संबंध में पूर्व आप पार्षद ताहिर हुसैन को दो साल की जेल की सजा सुनाई है। हुसैन को दंगाइयों द्वारा हमलों को अंजाम देने के लिए अपने घर का इस्तेमाल करने की अनुमति देने का दोषी पाया गया था। अदालत ने कहा कि एक निर्वाचित प्रतिनिधि के तौर पर उनसे शांति बनाए रखने की उम्मीद थी। यह दंगों से संबंधित उनकी दूसरी सजा है; वह आईबी अधिकारी अंकित शर्मा की हत्या के मामले में पहले से ही आजीवन कारावास की सजा काट रहे हैं।
