Tura Medical College Launch Delayed Due to Faculty Shortage

The launch of Tura Medical College's first academic session has been postponed due to a significant faculty shortage. Despite being nearly 95% complete, the college requires 97 teaching faculty members for an annual intake of 50 MBBS students, but only 37 have been identified. The state government has made repeated efforts to recruit qualified staff, including issuing advertisements and consulting local doctors, but these have not yielded favourable results. Consequently, the government is now focusing on expanding infrastructure at Tura Civil Hospital to serve the Garo Hills region.
