Navi Mumbai's Cleanliness Tag Questioned Over Debris Disposal Gaps

Times of India · environment

Navi Mumbai's 'cleanest city' ranking is being challenged due to inadequate construction and demolition waste management. The Alert Citizens Forum has complained to the Prime Minister's Office, citing a lack of integrated collection, transportation, processing, and disposal systems. Information obtained via RTI reveals questions about an authorised debris disposal system across CIDCO's jurisdiction. While a plant is proposed, officials admit debris is dumped in low-lying areas. The forum demands an independent assessment and an integrated waste management policy to prevent environmental damage.
