Midday meal workers in Dharwad protested on November 2, demanding their honorarium pending for the last four months. Affiliated with the Karnataka State Samyukta Akshara Dasoha Workers’ Union, they highlighted that their monthly pay of ₹4,600 is insufficient amidst rising prices. While the state government released two months' share previously, workers are yet to receive it. Delays are also attributed to a new payment system. Officials assured that the pending amount would be credited within 15 days, and other grievances regarding working conditions would be addressed.
