Punjab Activist Shot Dead After Confronting Chemist Over Drug Sales

Anti-drug activist Parwinder Singh Jhota was shot dead in Mansa, Punjab, after confronting a chemist he accused of selling synthetic drugs. The dispute began in July 2023 when Jhota allegedly garlanded the chemist with shoes, leading to Jhota's arrest and subsequent release after protests. On Tuesday, the confrontation escalated at the chemist's store, resulting in Jhota being shot multiple times. Four others were injured in the incident. Police are searching for the shopkeeper, who has been identified.
