India requires a five-year policy to make advanced genomic testing and targeted cancer therapies affordable for lower-income patients, according to leading oncologist Dr Bhawna Sirohi. She highlighted that while precision oncology can transform cancer treatment, high costs and limited access to testing and drugs remain significant barriers. Dr Sirohi, part of a Lancet Oncology Commission, stressed the need to integrate diagnostic genomic panels into public healthcare schemes like Ayushman Bharat.

डॉ. भावना सिरोही, एक प्रमुख ऑन्कोलॉजिस्ट ने कहा कि भारत को निम्न-आय वर्ग के मरीजों के लिए एडवांस्ड जीनोमिक टेस्टिंग और टारगेटेड कैंसर थेरेपी को सस्ता बनाने के लिए पांच साल की नीति की ज़रूरत है। उन्होंने बताया कि प्रिसिजन ऑन्कोलॉजी कैंसर के इलाज में क्रांति ला सकती है, लेकिन टेस्टिंग और दवाओं की ऊंची कीमत और सीमित पहुंच बड़ी बाधाएं हैं। डॉ. सिरोही ने आयुष्मान भारत जैसी सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य योजनाओं में डायग्नोस्टिक जीनोमिक पैनल को शामिल करने की ज़रूरत पर ज़ोर दिया।
