Bombay High Court Grants Bail to BEST Bus Driver in Bhandup Accident Case
The Hindu · india
The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Santosh Sawant, the driver of a BEST bus involved in a fatal accident near Bhandup railway station. Four people died and 12 were injured in the incident. The court noted that Sawant may not have received adequate training for driving an electric bus, a point raised by the defence. Sawant had been in jail for 11 months after his bail plea was rejected by the Sessions Court. The High Court considered his long service record and the potential delay in trial.
