This decline was driven by rising oil prices, which fueled inflation concerns and increased expectations of tighter monetary policy from the Federal Reserve. A stronger US dollar and climbing Treasury yields further pressured gold prices. Analysts noted that higher oil prices suggest persistent inflation, prompting a hawkish stance from the Fed. Higher yields also made non-yielding gold less attractive compared to assets offering returns.
