TDP Alliance Sweeps Local Body Polls, Defeating Ex-CM Jagan Reddy's Stronghold

The ruling TDP-led alliance in Andhra Pradesh has secured a significant victory in the local body elections, unseating the YSR Congress Party from its strongholds. The alliance captured 9 out of 13 municipal corporations and 75 out of 86 municipalities and nagar panchayats. This marks a major setback for former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, whose home district saw the YSRCP win only seven out of 279 municipal wards. The results contrast sharply with the 2021 polls, where the YSRCP had won nearly all local bodies.
