New CBSE Chairperson Appointed After OSM Row

Mandeep K Bhandari, a 2001-batch IAS officer, has been appointed the new chairperson of the CBSE. This appointment comes months after the implementation of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system led to widespread complaints. Issues included alleged answer-sheet mix-ups, portal glitches, payment failures, and delays in re-evaluation processes. The government had previously removed the former CBSE chairperson and secretary following the controversy surrounding the digital evaluation system. This change aims to address the operational challenges faced by the board.
