India, US to Boost Defence, Energy Ties; Trade Deal Close

India and the United States have agreed to expand cooperation in energy, defence, and technology, with a trade deal nearing conclusion. US counterpart Marco Rubio met with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar in Mumbai, discussing diversification of India's energy and defence supplies. Jaishankar also highlighted people-to-people ties and the contribution of Indian talent to the US tech sector. Both ministers reaffirmed commitment to an early conclusion of the bilateral trade agreement, with Rubio stating only a few items remain to be finalized.
