Rory McIlroy Defends India Visit After Kevin Kisner Questions Motives

Times of India · sports

Golfer Rory McIlroy has responded to criticism from Kevin Kisner, who questioned his motives for playing in India. Kisner suggested McIlroy was primarily motivated by a reported $10 million appearance fee rather than a genuine desire to grow the sport. McIlroy stated that earning money and genuinely wanting to help golf expand in a developing country like India can coexist. He also questioned why his decision to play in Delhi, where course conditions limited driver use, drew such scrutiny. The exact appearance fee remains unconfirmed.
