US death row inmate Christa Pike is reportedly conscious and speaking following a failed execution attempt last week. Pike, 50, who was sentenced to death for a 1995 murder, survived two lethal injections and is receiving medical care in a hospital. Her lawyers described her recovery as medically unprecedented, noting she is the only known person to survive a completed execution in the US. Authorities have not yet commented on whether they will attempt to execute her again, and the governor has suspended all executions for the year.
