Food companies in India have urged the Supreme Court to reconsider the proposed red colour for food warning labels. They argue that the colour red is already associated with non-vegetarian markings by Indian consumers, potentially causing confusion. The industry group stated that introducing another prominent red symbol could lead to misunderstandings. While not opposing front-of-pack labels, they believe thresholds for high salt, sugar, or fat content should be scientifically determined and applied judiciously. The Supreme Court is scheduled to review the government's proposal.
