Karnataka Seizes 565 Tonnes of Subsidised Rice Meant for Public Distribution

Karnataka authorities have seized nearly 565 tonnes of subsidised rice, valued at ₹1.34 crore, in a three-day statewide operation. The crackdown targeted an alleged network diverting Food Corporation of India (FCI) grain for illegal export to Africa via Chennai port. Six criminal cases were registered under the Essential Commodities Act, and nine individuals were booked. The operation also led to disciplinary action against two government officials for alleged negligence.

कर्नाटक के अधिकारियों ने तीन दिन के राष्ट्रव्यापी अभियान में करीब 565 टन सब्सिडी वाले चावल जब्त किए हैं, जिनकी कीमत ₹1.34 करोड़ है। इस कार्रवाई में फूड कॉरपोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया (FCI) के अनाज को चेन्नई बंदरगाह के रास्ते अफ्रीका में अवैध निर्यात के लिए कथित तौर पर डायवर्ट करने वाले एक नेटवर्क को निशाना बनाया गया। आवश्यक वस्तु अधिनियम के तहत छह आपराधिक मामले दर्ज किए गए और नौ लोगों को बुक किया गया। इस अभियान के कारण कथित लापरवाही के लिए दो सरकारी अधिकारियों के खिलाफ अनुशासनात्मक कार्रवाई भी की गई।
