A particularly lethal Ebola strain, the Bundibugyo virus, is spreading rapidly in the Democratic Republic of Congo, outpacing medical efforts. Dr. Mohamed Janabi, WHO Regional Director for Africa, highlighted the challenge from Bunia, the outbreak's epicentre. The virus is proving deadly, with many infected individuals not reaching healthcare professionals.
