Delhi Air Pollution Returns Within 5 Days After Rain: 22-Year Study
Hindustan Times · environment
A 22-year study analyzing 612 rainfall events in Delhi revealed that air pollution particles return to pre-rain levels within five days in over 50% of cases. Researchers found that continued emissions from vehicles, industries, and construction are the primary drivers of this rapid recovery. Heavier rainfall did not significantly extend the relief period. The study highlights the necessity of sustained emission reduction measures rather than relying solely on rainfall for lasting improvements in Delhi's air quality.
