Indian IT Vendor Jailed For Compromising Court Files

An Indian IT vendor in Singapore has been sentenced to 28 weeks in jail for compromising the safety of over 18,000 court files. Janarthanan Tamil Kovan, 42, pleaded guilty to endangering government documents and making unauthorized modifications to a government-issued laptop. While working as an external IT vendor for the State Courts, he allowed remote access to his laptop, which contained restricted and sensitive files, including login credentials and network architecture details. Although no files were transferred, his actions could have potentially led to unauthorized access to confidential case information.

सिंगापुर में एक भारतीय आईटी विक्रेता को 18,000 से ज़्यादा कोर्ट फाइलों की सुरक्षा से खिलवाड़ करने के आरोप में 28 हफ़्तों की जेल की सज़ा सुनाई गई है। 42 साल के जनार्दनन तमिल कोवन ने सरकारी दस्तावेज़ों को खतरे में डालने और सरकारी लैपटॉप में अनधिकृत बदलाव करने के जुर्म को स्वीकार किया। स्टेट कोर्ट्स के लिए एक बाहरी आईटी विक्रेता के तौर पर काम करते हुए, उसने अपने लैपटॉप का रिमोट एक्सेस दे दिया था, जिसमें लॉगिन क्रेडेंशियल और नेटवर्क आर्किटेक्चर की जानकारी सहित प्रतिबंधित और संवेदनशील फाइलें थीं। हालाँकि कोई भी फाइल ट्रांसफर नहीं हुई, लेकिन उसके इस काम से गोपनीय मामलों की जानकारी तक अनधिकृत पहुँच का ख़तरा पैदा हो सकता था।
