China Inaugurates Pinglu Canal To Southeast Asia

China is inaugurating the Pinglu Canal, its first modern river-to-sea waterway, on September 16, 2026. This 134km canal in Guangxi province links the Xijiang River to the Beibu Gulf, significantly shortening shipping distances by approximately 560km. It aims to reduce logistics costs by 18 to 30 percent and boost trade between southwest China and Southeast Asia. The canal can accommodate ships up to 5,000 tonnes and is part of China's Belt and Road Initiative.

चीन 16 सितंबर 2026 को पिंग्लू नहर का उद्घाटन कर रहा है। यह चीन की पहली आधुनिक नदी से समुद्र तक जाने वाली जलमार्ग है। गुआंग्शी प्रांत में 134 किमी लंबी यह नहर, शिजियांग नदी को बेइबू खाड़ी से जोड़ती है। इससे जहाजों की दूरी करीब 560 किमी कम हो जाएगी। इसका लक्ष्य लॉजिस्टिक्स लागत 18 से 30% घटाना और दक्षिण-पश्चिम चीन व दक्षिण-पूर्व एशिया के बीच व्यापार बढ़ाना है।
