Bhopal Sees 26% Rise in Crimes Against Women in First 9 Months of 2026

Crimes against women in Bhopal have surged by 26% during the first nine months of 2026 compared to the same period last year. A total of 2,801 cases were registered between and September 30, an increase of 585 cases from 2025. Kidnapping cases saw a significant rise of nearly 50%, while rape cases increased by 9.1%. Criminal intimidation and cruelty-related cases also showed substantial growth. Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar stated that investigations are prioritized, but the trend highlights the need for enhanced safety measures.

2026 के पहले नौ महीनों में भोपाल में महिलाओं के खिलाफ अपराधों में पिछले साल की समान अवधि की तुलना में 26% की वृद्धि हुई है। 30 सितंबर तक कुल 2,801 मामले दर्ज किए गए, जो 2025 से 585 अधिक हैं। अपहरण के मामलों में लगभग 50% की उल्लेखनीय वृद्धि देखी गई, जबकि बलात्कार के मामलों में 9.1% की वृद्धि हुई। आपराधिक धमकी और क्रूरता से संबंधित मामलों में भी काफी वृद्धि हुई। पुलिस आयुक्त संजय कुमार ने कहा कि जांच को प्राथमिकता दी जा रही है, लेकिन यह प्रवृत्ति बढ़ी हुई सुरक्षा उपायों की आवश्यकता पर प्रकाश डालती है।
