सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने दिल्ली में शांतिपूर्ण विरोध प्रदर्शनों की अनुमति मांगने वाली एक याचिका पर सुनवाई के लिए सहमति दे दी है। याचिकाकर्ता ने तर्क दिया कि दिल्ली पुलिस ऐसे प्रदर्शनों के लिए प्राधिकरण से इनकार कर रही है, जिससे छात्रों, नागरिकों और यहां तक कि पंजीकृत राजनीतिक दलों के अधिकारियों और सांसदों को भी प्रभावित किया जा रहा है। मुख्य न्यायाधीश सूर्यकांत ने स्वीकार किया कि इसी तरह के मामले पहले से ही सूचीबद्ध हैं और वह आगे जांच करेंगे। याचिका में विशेष रूप से दिल्ली पुलिस को शांतिपूर्ण प्रदर्शनों की अनुमति देने के निर्देश देने का अनुरोध किया गया है, जिसमें मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त के खिलाफ शिकायत के बाद इनकार के आरोपों का हवाला दिया गया है।
