The Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) will operate independently until the upcoming local body elections in Tamil Nadu, announced party leader G. K. Vasan. He stated that the decision was made to strengthen the party's foundation by functioning on its own strength. While the party will not contest elections without any alliance, it has resolved to function distinctly until the polls. Going forward, the TMC intends to work closely with the Indian National Congress at the national level, though Vasan compared a future merger to that of the CPI and CPI(M).
