Kentucky Widow's Estate Claim Halted By Appeals Court Ruling

Times of India · world

A Kentucky appeals court has halted a lower court's inquiry into the mental capacity of Tamara Williams, a widow who rejected her late husband's will. The appeals court ruled that district courts lack the authority for such disputed family cases, stating they must be heard in circuit court. Williams, married for 54 years, chose her statutory spousal share over her husband's trust, which would have given her less. Her stepchildren challenged her decision, alleging undue influence and lack of mental capacity.
