Ujjain Shahi Masjid Demolition Stirs Controversy

The Shahi Masjid in Ujjain, reportedly around 636 years old and built in the late 14th century, is at the center of a controversy. Part of the mosque is being demolished for road widening as part of preparations for the Simhastha 2028 event. The mosque management's legal challenges against the demolition were dismissed by the court. The Nagar Nigam plans to build a 15-meter wide road as per court orders. The mosque is known for its unique architecture, using limestone and carved stones.

उज्जैन की शाही मस्जिद, जो कथित तौर पर लगभग 636 साल पुरानी है और 14वीं सदी के अंत में बनी थी, विवादों के केंद्र में है। सिंहस्थ 2028 की तैयारियों के तहत सड़क चौड़ीकरण के लिए मस्जिद के एक हिस्से को तोड़ा जा रहा है। मस्जिद प्रबंधन की विध्वंस के खिलाफ कानूनी चुनौतियां अदालत ने खारिज कर दीं। नगर निगम अदालत के आदेश के अनुसार 15 मीटर चौड़ी सड़क बनाने की योजना बना रहा है। मस्जिद अपनी अनूठी वास्तुकला के लिए जानी जाती है, जिसमें चूना पत्थर और तराशे हुए पत्थरों का इस्तेमाल किया गया है।
