Conman Poses as GBA RFO, Dupes Forest Official of ₹1.6 Lakh

A conman impersonating a Range Forest Officer (RFO) from the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has allegedly defrauded a Forest Department official of ₹1.6 lakh. The accused, who identified himself as Puneeth Gowda, promised to arrange a car under a government scheme. He sent application forms via WhatsApp and insisted on advance payment for processing the sanction. The victim transferred the money by scanning QR codes, only to realize he had been cheated. He has filed a complaint with the South-East CEN police seeking recovery of funds and the accused's arrest.

एक ठग ने ग्रेटर बेंगलुरु अथॉरिटी (जीबीए) के रेंज फॉरेस्ट ऑफिसर (आरएफओ) बनकर वन विभाग के एक अधिकारी को कथित तौर पर ₹1.6 लाख की ठगी का शिकार बनाया है। आरोपी, जिसने खुद को पुनीत गौड़ा बताया, ने सरकारी योजना के तहत कार दिलाने का वादा किया था। उसने व्हाट्सएप पर आवेदन पत्र भेजे और मंजूरी की प्रक्रिया के लिए एडवांस भुगतान पर जोर दिया। पीड़ित ने क्यूआर कोड स्कैन करके पैसे ट्रांसफर किए, लेकिन बाद में उसे पता चला कि उसके साथ धोखा हुआ है। उसने पैसे की वसूली और आरोपी की गिरफ्तारी के लिए साउथ-ईस्ट CEN पुलिस में शिकायत दर्ज कराई है।
