The Tamil Nadu government is collaborating with manufacturers to leverage their pyrotechnic expertise for products like emergency flares, signal pyrotechnics, and countermeasures for fighter jets. The decade-long plan includes developing complex systems such as ZPP electro-pyrotechnic initiators for rockets and missiles. Discussions are underway with institutions like IIT Madras and DRDO to facilitate this ambitious diversification, aiming to align with the defence ministry's indigenisation mandate.
