Madurai Used Vehicle Market Faces Decline Amidst E20 Fuel Concerns

Times of India · automobile

Madurai's second-hand vehicle market is experiencing a downturn, with dealers reporting growing disinterest from buyers. Ownership transfers have declined from 19,795 in 2025 to 14,576 so far in 2026, with daily averages dropping from 54 to 50. Concerns over the compatibility of older vehicles with E20 petrol, coupled with a narrowing EMI gap between new and used cars, are deterring customers. The increasing preference for electric vehicles also contributes to the struggle of the resale trade.
