Hollywood actor James McAvoy revealed he declined director Joe Wright's suggestion for the main cast and crew of 'Atonement' to live together. McAvoy felt too socially awkward to share accommodation and socialize 24/7 with his castmates. He successfully negotiated to live in a separate cottage on the manor grounds. This allowed him to participate in social events selectively, aligning with his character's outsider status in the 2007 film. The actor admitted he desperately sought an excuse to avoid constant interaction.
