Palakkad Court Orders Woman to Return 11 Sovereigns of Gold to Ex-Husband

In a rare ruling, the Ottapalam Family Court in Palakkad has directed a woman to return 11 sovereigns of gold to her former husband following their divorce through khula. The gold includes mahr, a mandatory gift from the groom, and engagement gold. The husband had sought the return of 37 sovereigns and over Rs 5 lakh, but the court only granted the claim for 11 sovereigns. The woman must return the ornaments within 30 days, or their market value will be recovered from her property.

पालक्काड की ओट्टापलम फैमिली कोर्ट ने एक दुर्लभ फैसले में तलाक के बाद एक महिला को उसके पूर्व पति को 11 सोने के सिक्के लौटाने का आदेश दिया है। यह सोना महर (दूल्हे द्वारा दिया जाने वाला अनिवार्य उपहार) और सगाई का सोना है। पति ने 37 सोने के सिक्के और 5 लाख रुपये से अधिक की मांग की थी, लेकिन कोर्ट ने केवल 11 सोने के सिक्कों का दावा स्वीकार किया। महिला को 30 दिनों के भीतर गहने लौटाने होंगे, अन्यथा उनकी बाजार कीमत उसकी संपत्ति से वसूली जाएगी।
