Tamil Nadu Accuses Karnataka of Scant Respect for Cauvery Water Orders
The Hindu · india
Tamil Nadu has expressed frustration in the Supreme Court over Karnataka's alleged "scant respect" for Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) orders, leading to a water deficit and agricultural crisis. The state claims Karnataka's inaction and the CWMA's failure to ensure compliance have severely impacted its farmers. Despite a deficit of 14.981 TMC, Karnataka has not supplied the mandated daily flow of 4,000 cusecs. Tamil Nadu accuses Karnataka of hoarding water, consuming significant amounts for its own needs while releasing minimal water downstream.
