Kochi Corporation to Deploy New Ro-Ro Vessel Next Week Amid Service Disruptions

The Kochi Corporation will deploy the new Ro-Ro vessel, Sethu Sagar-3, on the Fort Kochi-Vypeen route next week due to frequent service disruptions. This decision comes after the existing vessel, Sethu Sagar-1, experienced a technical glitch, leaving only one operational. The new vessel will be temporarily operated under a six-month agreement with Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC). The corporation plans to eventually form a special purpose vehicle with Kochi Metro Rail Ltd for profitable operations. Rs 5.5 crore has been allocated for vessel maintenance.

कोच्चि कॉर्पोरेशन अगले हफ़्ते फोर्ट कोच्चि-वाइपीन मार्ग पर नई रो-रो वेसल, सेतु सागर-3, तैनात करेगा क्योंकि सेवा में बार-बार रुकावटें आ रही हैं। यह फैसला मौजूदा वेसल, सेतु सागर-1, में तकनीकी खराबी आने के बाद लिया गया है, जिससे केवल एक ही चालू हालत में बची है। नई वेसल को अस्थायी रूप से Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC) के साथ छह महीने के समझौते के तहत चलाया जाएगा। कॉर्पोरेशन का इरादा मुनाफ़े वाले संचालन के लिए Kochi Metro Rail Ltd के साथ मिलकर एक विशेष उद्देश्य वाहन (SPV) बनाने का है। वेसल के रखरखाव के लिए 5.5 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित किए गए हैं।
