India's Renewable Sector Seeks Wider Manufacturing Framework Beyond Solar and Wind

Mint · business

India's renewable energy industry is urging the government to expand its domestic manufacturing push to include battery energy storage systems and other critical components. Industry leaders propose extending the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework, currently for solar modules and wind turbines, to these new areas. This move aims to reduce dependence on imports, particularly from China, and strengthen the domestic supply chain for renewable energy technologies. The government is actively engaging with the industry to explore measures promoting local production.

Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM)
