The Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry, operational since 1655, continues its historic service across the Connecticut River. This ferry, the oldest continuously operating in the United States, has evolved from a raft to its current form, a three-car flatboat towed by a diesel vessel. It runs from April through November, offering motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists a direct route. Using the ferry can save drivers nearly eight miles and is the sole crossing option for cyclists between Hartford and Middletown, spanning over 13 miles.
